Some clients choose their own name, the name of a family member, the names of their partners or business associates, the initials of these same people, etc... We ascertain for each of our clients whether the chosen name must be registered with an official with the city, county, or state government. You should also not choose a name that is the same or deceptively similar to the name of another business or you may face legal action. We routinely make a check of various departments within the State of Illinois to make sure that there is no such violation. We also check with the local county or counties where the client intends to do business to make sure that no other business has filed paperwork under the assumed name act registering a similar name.
